Almost a month after an attempt-to-murder case was registered against him, Congress MLA from Kampli J N Ganesh was on Wednesday nabbed from Gujarat by the Ramanagara police.
Ganesh, during his stay at a private resort near Bidadi, had assaulted Vijayanagara (Hospet) MLA from Congress, Anand Singh, and inflicted grievous injuries on him. The Bidadi police had registered an FIR on January 21 and charged him with attempt to murder.
The MLA was arrested by a special team of police. B Ramesh, Superintendent of Police, Ramanagara, said Ganesh was arrested from a hotel at Somnath in Prabhas Patan near Veraval in Saurashtra. The MLA was with three other accomplices. While one hailed from Karnataka, the other two were locals.
He will be brought to Bidadi on Thursday and produced before the magistrate. The police are yet to decide on his custody.

Ganesh, who assaulted his ‘mentor’ in politics, has a criminal background. Known to have instigated several clashes and unleashed violence along with brother Parashurama, Hospet police had opened a history sheet when Ganesh was just 23 years and his brother 26.
“Ganesh had taken part in clashes between hotel employees of Hospet. Refusing to pay up for food and liquor, Ganesh had assaulted employees of hotels and liquor shops several times,” the history sheet introduction read.
