'Akshara Dasoha' employees lay siege to ZP

When entered the ZP premises and broke the flower pots. Efforts made by the police to pacify them proved futile. The agitators were prevented from entering inside the office. Wordy duel ensued between the agitators and police. A protester fainted after the police resorted to a mild lathi charge. This incident angered them. They shouted slogans against the police for curtailing their powers.
As the district has only a limited number of women police personnel the department found it difficult to control the mob.

On receipt of information, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha President K S Puttannaih visited the spot and addressed the gathering. In the meantime, the protesters staged a Rasta roko near the Traveller’s Bungalow on the highway condemning the police atrocity. Sensing trouble, the police arrested the agitators.

Earlier, addressing the protesters, state unit president of Akshara Dasoha Employees B Ramakrishna urged the government to revoke its order of dismissing some employees over the attendance of students. As per the government’s norm, there should be one employee for 25 students where as two if the number is below 100. This was not acceptable, he added.

He wanted the Government to regularise the services of the employees and extend other benefits like maternity holiday.
