Twenty students studying MBA in the Washington University arrived at Muttur with their professors and painted seven classrooms and the outer walls of the School.

The late Sanjay Dasgupta, who had been deputy commissioner of the district had strived for the development of Muttur. His wife, Shangon Dasgupta, is currently running a rural developmental programme called ‘Namma Muttur’.
The American students came to Muttur having learnt about the programme.

Visit to India
Professor Hugo Judo spoke to DHNS and explained that the visit to India was a part of the three-week long field work for the MBA students. “Shangon Dasgupta organises several programmes in memory of her late husband. We manage most of the work on our own, in our native countries. Similarly, we are painting the School,” he said, adding that they took a special liking for the silk, cattle and cuisine of the place.

The CMCA and Sanjay Forever organisations are serving the Muttur village effectively. They provide the students with a lot of facilities and also conduct medical test camps, said headmaster P Ramakrishnayya.

“The students today learnt the importance of self-dependence,” he added.
CMCA members Usha Shetty, Manjunath and Victor Lobo, as well as Shangon Dasgupta of the Sanjay Forever were present during the painting programme. Teachers and students of the School were also present.
