Revenue and District in-charge Minister V Sreenivas Prasad on Wednesday said a hi-tech ground level central water storage reservoir will be constructed at Vijayanagar in the city.
Addressing the media after inspecting various developmental works, Prasad said the existing storage reservoir at Vijayanagar that caters to the needs of localities in Krishnaraja, Chamaraja and Chamundeshwari Assembly constituencies was in a dilapidated state. For the time being, it would be repaired. However, as a permanent measure, a sophisticated storage unit will be constructed next to it. A proposal in this regard will be forwarded to the government.
On the ongoing works at Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan on Lakshmivilas road, adjacent to Devaraja Traffic police station, the Minister said that the works are expected to be completed before October. ZP CEO P A Gopal has been instructed to release Rs 50 lakh towards the works. If additional funds are required, the government would cater to it, he added.
Works on Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan at Paduvarahalli is expected to be completed in the next two months. Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has taken up the work in association with MCC, ZP and social welfare department. Of the total cost of Rs 4.5 crore, Rs 3.5 crore has been already released. Similarly, works on Valmiki Bhavan at Vijayanagar 2nd stage taken up at the cost of Rs 4.92 crore will be completed soon.
Heritage
The State government in its budget, has earmarked Rs 100 crore towards the conservation of heritage buildings and the development of prominent roads in the city. An amount of Rs six crore has been kept aside for the restoration of Lansdowne Market, while Devaraja Market will be developed further at the cost of Rs 10 crore. Another amount of Rs four crore has been earmarked for installing the statue of the last maharaja of Mysore Jayachamaraja Wadiyar at Hardinge Circle.
The jamboo savari route from Chamaraja Wadiyar circle to Millenium Circle in Bannimantap will be converted into a concrete road at the cost of Rs 55 crore, while Irwin road will be widened at the cost of Rs 25 crore. Properties on the either side of the road will be acquired and the owners will be suitably compensated.
The existing Chamaraja double road between Basaveswara Circle and Ramaswamy Circle will be converted into a concrete road at the cost of Rs 10 crore. A proposal in this regard has been submitted to the government and reply is awaited.
