Miscreants broke open the door of one of the rooms of the Junior College in Madikeri, thinking that question papers for the written test for police constables has been stored in the college.
However, they had to return empty handed as they could not locate the question papers.
The Junior College was one of the examination centres for the exam.
The incident came to light when the examination officials visited the college on Sunday morning. All the files in the college room were found scattered.
Superintendent of Police Sumana D Pannekara said, “No materials related to the examination were kept in the college. The police are investigating from all angles.”
The exam was held to recruit 33 civil constables in the district police and 22 armed police constables.
