Demanding the repair of Puttur-Mundoor Road, auto drivers from Panjala, Mundooru and Kuriya, staged a unique protest by planting a plantain stem and a scarecrow in a pothole on Tuesday.
The Puttur-Mundoor ZP Road is filled with huge potholes and are causing inconvenience to the motorists. With rainwater filling the potholes, motorists find it difficult to judge the depth of the potholes.
In spite of bringing the matter to the notice of the authorities, no action has been initiated to repair the stretch.
“The condition of the road has remained like this for the past two years. In spite of bringing the matter to the notice of the elected representatives and officials, no action has been initiated so far to fill the potholes. The surface of the road has been chipped off,” the residents said.
A huge pothole has surfaced near Panjala. Several two-wheeler riders have lost balance and met with an accident at the spot, said the residents.
Auto driver Santhosh Rai Panjala said, “It is difficult to drive my autorickshaw on the Puttur-Mundoor stretch. There is no one to listen to our woes. The ride is a nightmare for all vehicle-riders.”
