Rang Race 2015’, India’s first fun run with colours will be held on March 29 at Embassy Manyata Business Park. Organised by The Slackline Company, a start-up that envisions creating niche outdoor sports based events; its founders feel ‘Rang Race’ is the perfect start to this journey.

Aimed at creating an event that is fun, encouraging both the running and the non-running community to be a part of it, this 5 km run will have colour zones through which the participants will run. Volunteers from the Sparsha Trust, the charity partner, will throw organic colours on the participants.

The participants will begin the race in white and as they reach the finish line, it will be a colourful canvas on array. The colours are being sourced from a women’s cooperative in Mangalore, called Vanastree.

Aalok Bharadwaj, a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of The Slackline Company says, “There aren’t too many running / outdoor events that cater to the amateur crowd. With this event, we are trying to create a platform where runners can bring along their non-running friends and family to enjoy the sport in a safe, fun filled atmosphere. By registering for the run, we not only promise you have a good time and be part of India’s first fun run with colour, we also make sure that we contribute to a cause that is very dear to us”.

Prashant H Pillai, co-founder of The Slackline Company, says, “We have chosen Sparsha Trust as our charity partner this year and they shall receive a part of the proceeds from registration. Sparsha Trust works to rehabilitate street children by providing them education, shelter, protection and security. We would like participants to partake in the run to have a colourful Sunday morning and while running or walking at ‘Rang Race’, they would know that every step of theirs is contributing to making a child’s life better.

The children from Sparsha will be also be performing a folk dance at the run. Our Venue Partners, Embassy Group share our vision and have come forward to support us by providing Embassy Manyata Business Park as the venue for the run.”

The run will begin at 6.30 am. There will also be the ‘Gulaal Bazaar’ (stalls) that promises food, merchandise and fun activities. Registrations have begun. More information on the run and registration details can be found on www.rangrace.com. You can also log on to www.facebook.com/TheRangRace
