Superstar Rajinikanth's Tamil movie 'Kaala' which was released amidst many protests across Karnataka, was screened without as much as a murmur on Friday in Bengaluru.

The movie, which was released globally on Thursday, faced heat from pro-Kannada activists. Shows were cancelled and rescheduled multiple times in theatres across Karnataka mostly by single-screen cinemas.

Though none of the single screen theatres in Bengaluru screened the movie, multiplexes at Mantri mall and Orion mall screened the movie with unclear schedules.

On Friday too, none of the single screen theatres screened the movie. However, the movie is running at Mantri, Orion and Lido malls without ruckus.

It may recalled that on Thursday, many pro-Kannada activists opposed Kaala's release in state demanding a public apology by the Kaala lead actor Rajinikanth for his alleged derogatory remark against Karnataka and Kannadigas.

Many pro-Kannada activists like Vatal Nagaraj, Sa Ra Govindu, Praveen Shetty and actor Anup were taken into custody for opposing the movie release and going against the High court order.

However, the activists managed to get into Mantri Mall and were successful in getting two shows after 9 pm cancelled. Though actor Anup had confirmed to DH, that the movie will not be screened anywhere in the state, few malls have started the screening.

Speaking to DH, Kannada Chaluvali Paksha chief Vatal Nagaraj said, "They had promised us that they are not going to screen the movie. Now there are reports that the movie screening has resumed. I don't know in what way we can make them to understand the problem. I, along with my other activist friends, will be deciding our next move".
