So far, the civic body has identified around 200 illegal constructions. However, citizen groups are urging the BBMP to take firm action and demolish these structures rather than just conducting surveys.

BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath said the survey is being carried out by assistant engineers and assistant executive engineers, with the help of 70 contractual employees. "We have also developed a mobile application to record the details. Of the 200 illegal buildings, 55 were identified in the Mahadevapura Zone and around 27 in the West Zone,” he said.
