Scheduling the second phase of Lok Sabha elections amid government holidays resulted in a bandh-like situation in various parts of Bengaluru.

Most of the shops remained closed from the morning. Empty roads, limited public transport facilities, sparsely-occupied metro trains and less traffic made one feel as if the city has been shut down.

After 10 am, most of the polling booths wore a deserted look. Even in the afternoon most of the polling booths in Bangalore South and Rural did not cross 50% voting. Bangalore North, Bangalore South and Bangalore Central constituencies also recorded poor polling percentage.

Though the homestays in various tourist locations discouraged bookings on the election day, the restaurants on the highway were jam-packed with the tourists. However, a few tourists went ahead with their plans after casting their votes.

The election fever was less even in rural areas adjoining the city like Kagglipura, Harohalli and Kanakpura, where most of the polling booths saw a poor turnout of votes.
