Bengaluru: To assist users struggling to locate draft copies of their e-Khatas on the newly launched portal, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has introduced an alphabetical listing feature, making property searches easier.

This update comes in response to resident complaints about difficulty in finding property records in the search bar.

In a press release, the BBMP announced that draft e-Khatas for approximately 22 lakh properties have been made available on the portal, organised by ward. Property records can be accessed by entering the ward name and number, which are provided on property tax receipts.

Once a ward is selected, all draft e-Khatas within that ward are displayed in alphabetical order.

“As this is the first digitisation and creation of e-property IDs, the search currently requires the property owner's name,” a senior BBMP official explained. The alphabetical option was added for users who couldn’t find their records by name alone.

“The BBMP is committed to enhancing user experience and streamlining the process to ensure citizens can access their e-Khatas online without needing to interact with BBMP staff,” said Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner (Revenue), BBMP.

After locating their property, users have the option to download the draft e-Khata and, if necessary, upload supporting documents such as Aadhaar, registered deeds, the latest encumbrance certificate, or Bescom connection numbers. Those who complete the process accurately will receive the final e-Khata. Users requiring assistance can visit BBMP revenue offices.

Help desks have been set up in each assistant revenue office, and the BBMP is also planning to provide a special desk at Bangalore One Centres to address e-Khata-related queries soon.
