Alarmed by the surge in Covid-19 cases, especially in the city outskirts, the BBMP has scaled up its containment operations.
BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad on Saturday held an emergency meeting with all civic officials and zonal staff to draw up plans to contain the outbreak.
Prasad directed officials to ramp up the testing facilities.
On Saturday alone, the BBMP conducted about 38,000 tests. "The team of officials must identify Influenza-like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) symptomatic patients and scale up the testing in those areas," he told the officials.
Prasad also directed to deploy the BBMP’s revenue and engineering officials for contact tracing exercises, besides deputing a vigilance team in areas reporting more cases.
The commissioner also directed the officials to map the wards/areas reporting the highest number of cases in the last two months and take up precautionary measures.
