There seems to be no respite to the people residing near the Bellandur and Varthur Lakes as the waterbodies started to froth again on Wednesday.

This comes despite the Bangalore Development Authority and stakeholders taking measures to protect the waterbodies.

While, a part of the water in the Varthur Lake has been diverted to construct a bridge and sluice gates, frothing on the other side was intense.

The residents and commuters were taken aback to see foam flying all over the place, especially because it had not rained on Tuesday.

"The Bellandur Kodi side is full of froth. The BDA has done nothing to control it. The authority seems to have turned a blind eye and is blaming the monsoon and wind for this," said a resident.

Sonali Singh, another resident and a lake activist, said there was a lot of frothing and even a slight breeze sent the foam flying in all direction.

The locals were irked over the BDA officials expressing helplessness over the issue and blaming the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for the delay in the construction of the sewage treatment plants.

BDA engineer member B L Ravindra Babu said: "Sometimes the froth flies if it is windy, which is temporary. We are constructing sluice gates in Varthur and Bellandur. This will control the floods and check untreated water flowing into the waste weir."
