Passengers of a BMTC bus had a miraculous escape when the moving vehicle caught fire near Tin Factory on Old Madras Road.
Police said the rear wheel of the bus caught fire after sparks flew from the battery. Soon, flames engulfed the bus and the driver immediately stopped the vehicle allowing passengers to get down.
Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and put out the fire. The bus was completely damaged in the fire, police said. The incident led to a traffic jam for a while and additional men were deployed to ensure order on the road, police said.
