Several passengers escaped unhurt when a BMTC bus, in which they were travelling, rammed the compound wall of the Air Force Command Hospital on Old Airport Road on Monday morning.

According to the police, the front portion of the bus is completely damaged and a portion of the compound wall collapsed. Preliminary inquiry revealed brake failure to be the cause of the accident, said the police.

The accident occurred around 9.30 am when the bus was plying to Kempegowda Bus Station from Nallur. The driver could not control the bus and took a turn to avoid collision on the road and directed it towards the compound. The bus pierced through the compound and then stopped, said the police.

Parked truck catches fire

 A goods truck caught fire creating a tense atmosphere at Konappana Agrahara on Hosur Road on Monday morning.

According to the police, the incident occurred at 10.15 am when a truck belonging to Deluxe Roadlines was on its way to Bommasandra from Nelamangala. The driver parked the truck on the roadside and went out for a cup of tea, said the police.

Within minutes, the truck caught fire and was engulfed in flames. A little later, a deafening sound was heard when the chemicals loaded in the truck exploded. The local police and fire department personnel rushed to the spot when alerted. Two fire tenders were used to douse the fire, said the police.

The police suspect a leakage in the diesel tanker to be the cause of fire. The driver fled the spot when he saw the truck on fire, said the police.
