BU to review admission fee

At a recent meeting of the Academic Council, BU had decided to collect Rs 1 lakh for BA, Rs 3 lakh each for BCom and BBM/BHM, Rs 1.5 lakh for BSc/BCA, and Rs 2 lakh for BSc (Speech and Hearing) and BEd courses from a college, if it winds up the programme.

Following widespread criticism, the university also decided to put on hold its decision to collect admission fee for all undergraduate courses every year. Registrar (Administration) R M Ranganath said the Syndicate was of the view a review of the admission fee was necessary and a final decision could be taken later.

Student permitted research abroad

In a first of its kind, the BU Syndicate has decided to allow a student to take up research abroad after she was selected by a national committee.

Radha, a PhD student in Chemistry, was chosen by the National Committee on Talent Search (Chemistry) to pursue research at the laboratory of any Nobel Laureate of her choice.
