The engineers enquired about water supply problems and cleared clogged drains in the area. They said they had proposed a separate line to be laid from Om Shakthi temple to BDA Main Road. The work would be completed in four days, once it is approved.
Clarifying on the sale of Cauvery water supplied through tankers, T Venkataraju, engineer-in-chief, BWSSB, said if an individual house is supplied with more than 1,000 litres of water, the consumer will be charged for the supply. If 6,000 litres of water is supplied to more than five houses, the supply will then be free of cost.
He admitted that though residents were ready to pay for water, the BWSSB was unable to meet the demand for want of tankers.
The officer said the Board was planning to outsource the water supply through tankers.
The vehicles would be monitored through GPS and the driver would have to follow fixed timings to supply water.
