K V Gupta, who received the Rajyotsava award later in the evening, Sa Ra Govindu, Basanth Kumar Patil, Dinesh Gandhi, K C N Chandru and B Saroja Devi were among a few present for the five minute ‘celebrations’ which was restricted to paying tribute to the Rajkumar statue.
Even the handful of people who made it to the event took strong objection to the Rajyotsava award being awarded to comedian Nagaraj Kote.
Raising his voice at the Chamber, Patil quipped: “Who is he? Some comedian on television is receiving an award for cinema...”
Echoing his views were the others including Gupta. They raised serious questions on the criteria to select people for the award.
