The state government submitted to the high court that the Department of Law and Parliamentary Affairs had approved a draft amendment regarding disengaging child lock in
cabs. The government also said it would publish in newspapers to invite the public response on the same.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed by the Bangalore Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The organisation has called to disable the child lock following crimes against women travelling by cabs.

The court asked the state to inform the measures it would take to implement the amendment during the next date of hearing.

The court adjourned the case to November 14.
