BBMP Commissioner Kumar Naik on Thursday said that the Palike is ready to take part in ‘Swachh Sarvekshan,’ a cleanliness survey to be carried out across 75 major cities. He urged citizens to take part actively in the survey.

Commissioned by the Ministry of Urban Development and conducted by the Quality Council of India, the survey is done to assess the sanitation and hygiene conditions in the cities.
It will analyse work done on the construction of household individual toilets and community toilet seats.

In a press release, Naik stated that the survey will be held from January 5 to January 20 and the results will be announced on January 25 on the MyGov website.

While in the last survey, solid waste management (SWM) had a weightage of only 13 per cent, this time SWM has been given 60 per cent weightage, he said.

Citizens can give feedback on the national toll free number 1800 267 2777 and the number will be active till January 15, the release said. They can submit their responses at the local municipal centres through questionnaire method in the brochure, starting on January 5.

‘Swachh Sarvekshan’ survey aims to assess the level of cleanliness in urban India that will, in turn, serve as a progress report on the work carried out by different municipalities under Swachh Bharat.
