"We have already installed 214 bulk flow meters (BFMs) across the city to monitor water flow. With this project, we are planning to have mini flow meters (MFMs) in the new pipelines to give us exact details about the flow and leakage of water," said BWSSB Chairman P B Ramamurthy.

The project is expected to commence in the next three months and will take two years to stabilise the monitoring system.

Tenders have been called for the Rs 175-crore project financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Meetings of the Task Force for Quality in Public Construction and the expert committee on long and short term plans for procuring water for the next 40 years were convened on Monday. It was decided to install smaller sewage treatment plants, instead of constructing huge ones.
