A large number of Karnataka students figure in the top 10 Comedk engineering ranks this year.
Eight out of the top ten ranks in ComedK UGET 2014 have been bagged by Karnataka students.
This defies the trend till now in ComedK results where students from other states had fared better.
City student Girija Agarwal has hauled up Rank 1 in most of the streams in the entrance exams this year.
Apart from having achieved Rank 1 in CET Medical, BSc (Agri) and BVSc streams, she has scored Rank 1 in ComedK Medical/Dental too.
The student hopes to get through to AIIMS.
In Medical, the second rank has been bagged by a student from Gujarat.
Aditya Agarwal, from Palanpur, Gujarat, is celebrating his score in ComedK, while waiting for the state entrance test results back home.
“I went to coaching classes in Ahmedabad. I studied in state board and scored 92 percent in class 12. I have also appeared for AIIMS, JIPMER, among other tests.”
Both his parents are doctors. Aditya said he was interested in specialising in Psychiatry.
Third Rank holder in Medical, Shivani Vasisht, has topped the KLE University exam as well.
She took a year‘s break to appear for the entrance exams for Medical courses.
“I passed class 12 in 2013, with 95 per cent in CBSE. I wanted to get through to a good college and hence, took time to write the entrances. My first preference would be to get into a college in Delhi and I will wait for the AIPMT results. My second choice would be MS Ramaiah College in Bangalore,” the student said.
City boy tops Engg stream
T Dinesh Ram Kumar, a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Malleswaram, has scored Rank 1 in the engineering stream with a score of 164.
“I studied for three hours a day. I got 96.6 pc in class 12 and I have got 144th Rank in CET, 59th rank in Medical,” the student said, adding that he was interested in pursuing Electronics and Communication engineering in one of the IITs or one of the NITs.
The second rank has been bagged by Kondaveeti Dharan, a student from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh.
He too aims to get into an IIT and is interested in pursuing Computer Science.
He has scored 96.8 in the State board exam for class 12 and awaits the State entrance test results.
Prajwala T M from Deeksha Centre for Learning has secured Rank 3 and hopes to secure a seat for Computer Science in one of the NITs. She has scored 94 per cent in PUC.
“I used to study for 5-6 hours every day. Since I was preparing for IIT, CET and ComedK were easier,” the student said.
