A commercial complex in Jayanagar shows how Bengaluru can manage its power crisis. This four-story building has been using only Solar energy for its routine needs for the last 6 months.

The solar panels laid on the terrace can generate up to 25 kilo watts of power everyday.  Three offices in the complex are fitted with energy-efficient lights and run on solar power.

The panels were setup at an initial cost of Rs 14 lakh. Several consumer friendly government initiatives have made solar power more affordable now, say experts.

The solar panels provide uninterrupted power supply even on two consecutive rainy and cloudy days.  The solar-run commercial complex is the brainchild of Gopinath Jawalkar, who says innovative thinking is the need of the hour to manage power deficit.
