Bengaluru: A 36-year-old man, who works as a cook in five apartments, sustained burns following a minor blast at his house in BTM Layout due to an LPG cylinder leak on Monday morning, the police said.

The incident occurred around 8.30 am when the cook, Pawan, switched on the cylinder and the stove to boil milk. Immediately, the surroundings caught fire due to the leak. The impact of the explosion led to the collapse of a wall, the police said.

Neighbours alerted the police and the fire department, and Pawan was taken to a hospital. 

“The victim is being treated at Victoria Hospital,” a police officer said. “He stayed alone.” 

Pawan, who is from Uttar Pradesh, had moved to Bengaluru nearly 10 years ago in search of a job. In BTM Layout, he has been staying in the house owned by one, Janaki.
