The 66th City Civil Court will pronounce on Wednesday whether or not it will release Mohammed Haris Nalapad on bail. Nalapad, the son of Shanthinagar legislator N A Haris, has been in jail for assaulting Vidwath L, a fellow diner, at Farzi Café in UB City on February 17.
Nalapad's lawyer, Usman P, sought bail for his client by arguing that since the CCB had filed a detailed charge sheet in the case, there is no chance of tampering with the evidence or influencing the witnesses.
Special Public Prosecutor M S Shyamsundar, appearing for Vidwath, countered him, saying the mere filing of the charge sheet cannot be the basis for releasing the accused on bail. He argued that bail was not given in many cases despite the charge sheet being filed.
The court heard both the sides and reserved the orders for Wednesday.
