Who doesn’t love cheese? From fondue to nachos to pizza, it’s safe to say the world has a slight obsession with cheese. And well the obsession is totally justified. Here are a few recipes to help you get your cheese craving under control.

Halloumi Fries

Is there anything better than fried cheese? This popular street food from the UK is quickly gaining ground.

* Heat a shallow pool of oil in a large frying pan.

* Cut the halloumi into long rectangular pieces and thoroughly pat them dry before adding to the pan and cook, turning until golden brown on all sides.

* Once the cheese is fried, dip the pieces into a bowl, add the paprika powder and salt as per taste and toss.

* In a separate bowl mix together natural yoghurt with ¼ tsp ginger and garlic powder and shreds of coriander.

* Put the fries on a platter, drizzle over the yogurt and then sprinkle with pomegranate seeds and mint. Eat immediately.

Instant Mac and Cheese

This Mac and Cheese in a mug is a total game-changer.

* Put 1/3 cup macaroni and ½ water in a mug. Microwave on full power for 2 minutes. Stir. Repeat the microwaving process two more times. Check to see that all the water has been absorbed. If not, microwave a bit more, until it is gone.

* Stir in the 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup shredded cheese and salt and pepper to taste and microwave for a final 30-60 seconds. Stir well, and enjoy.

Egg and Cheese Quiche

A no-fuss quiche recipe that you can customise with whatever fillings you’d like.

* Preheat oven to 180C.

* In a bowl mix together, 4 eggs, 1 1/2 cup milk, ½ cup flour and 3 tbsp melted butter.

* Fold in 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese and ½ cup of diced vegetables of your liking.

* Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Muffin tins can also be used.

* Bake for 40 minutes or until set. Serve hot!

Cheesy Mashed Potato Balls

Crunchy golden-brown deliciousness on the outside, loaded mashed potato goodness on the inside.

* Boil 3 medium-sized potatoes until soft and tender. Peel and mash them into a smooth paste.

* To the potatoes add 1 egg, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese and 1 chopped green onion and combine thoroughly.

* Using your hands, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. Toss in the breadcrumbs until completely covered. Set aside on a plate to rest for 15 minutes.

* Heat the oil in a large, wide pot.

* Once the oil is hot enough, gently lower the balls into the oil and fry until golden all over

* Once done frying drain the excess oil and serve immediately.

Chilli Cheese Toast

Stuffed with peppers, spices, potato, cheese and green chutney, this cheese toastie is the perfect evening snack.

* Boil 2-3 potatoes till tender, peel and dice them.

* Make a mint chutney by blending together a handful of mint leaves, few sprigs of coriander leaves, 1 green chilli, pinch of sugar and a small piece of ginger.

* Put the cooked potatoes in a large bowl and mix in chaat masala. Add diced green peppers and red onion, and mix well.

* Lay two bread slices on a board and spread butter generously on each slice. Now spread a layer of green chutney on one slice, and layer on the potato filling on top.

* Add a slice of cheese and make the sandwich by lightly pressing the slices together. Spread more butter on the outsides of the sandwich and fry them in a pan over medium heat until golden brown. Serve hot with ketchup.
