Continuing efforts by civic and health authorities to check the rise in dengue cases notwithstanding, the number crossed the 100 mark on Tuesday.
From 76 cases as on June 1, the number of people diagnosed with the virus reached 106, with a majority of cases reported in Jayanagar, C V Raman Nagar and Mahadevapura. Officials, however, claimed that proactive measures and adequate supply of medicines have been able to prevent deaths. A family from Dodda Ankanahalli, Maddur taluk, admitted two girls to Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here.
Pooja, 15, and her cousin Pallavi, 16, were brought from Mysore on Saturday two days after Pooja’s sister (Roja, 16) died at Apollo Hospital in Mysore on Thursday.
Stating that the three girls were first taken to hospitals in Koppa, near Maddur, and a Mandya hospital, father of Pooja and Roja, Ramakrishna, said, he finally took them to Mysore.
“But we could not save my daughter because the hospital had mediocre facilities,” he alleged, adding that the cremation was done on Friday.
He decided to bring the two girls to Bangalore, where Pooja is recovering and Pallavi is responding well to medication.
BBMP Chief Health Officer S B Nagaraj, while confirming that there have been 30 fresh cases reported in three days, said the authorities are working on controlling the spread.
