Actor Vinod Prabhakar, son of late veteran actor Tiger Prabhakar, shot to fame after he essayed the role of a cop in ‘Tyson’. He has once again slipped into a police officer‘s uniform in his latest release ‘Crack’ where he plays the role of a cop deputed to crack a complicated case.

Vinod, who watched the movie on the day of its release, says that he was overwhelmed by the love and affection people showered on him and is thrilled that the film has had a good opening. “The theatres were packed for the first show and I was moved when I saw a few people in the audience repeat the dialogues from the film,” he says.

The actor says that he enjoyed playing the role of a police officer. “I play by my own rules and don’t believe in going by the book. My character is a tough cop but there are times when he behaves like a eccentric person. His peculiar mannerisms stand out and a lot of people seem to like these sudden changes in the character,” says Vinod.  Though Vinod hails from a family of actors, he says that he never really set out to be an actor. “My father would always discourage me from entering the film industry. He would say that it is a tough job and not as rosy as it is made out to be. I completed by engineering and was ready to get a software job but I think I was destined to become an actor,” he shares.

When asked about how his father has inspired him, Vinod says, “I learnt how to stay grounded from my father. He was not only a complete actor but a wonderful human being as well. I’ve learnt humility from him.” But he immediately adds that he wishes to chart his own course rather than imitate his father. “I have watched almost all my father’s films and I admire the way he handled all his characters with ease. But I would like to create my own style and carve a niche for myself,” he adds.

Talking about how he has evolved as an actor, Vinod says “I had to learn everything from scratch. I started without knowing anything about the film industry. I would work very hard on my physique, spend extra hours on my dialogues and understanding the script thoroughly before I started shooting for a film. I wouldn’t leave anything to chance,” he recalls. The actor feels that he has indeed come a long way from where he began. “I am now confident about my abilities and can get under the skin of any character that is given to me,” he adds.

The actor will soon be seen in films like ‘786’, ‘Rugged’ and ‘Mari Tiger’. “All these films will see me play very contrasting roles. None of the characters that I play will resemble each other,” he signs off.
