The Central Crime Branch police on Sunday raided a discotheque in Gandhinagar near Majestic and arrested 83 men, including the manager, and rescued 28 escort women who were used for couple-entry.
Based on a tip off, the CCB police raided the Port of Pavilion Bar and Restaurant, situated in Sujata complex, and found that the women entered the bar with the men posing as their wives, but were actually working at the bar. Once inside, the bar staff would ask the customers to choose any woman of their choice and force them to dance with the men in an indecent manner.
While bar manger C Sudesh (32), a native of Mangaluru, was detained, the other staffers managed to escape during the raid. According to the police, the bar had displayed a board, saying entry only for couples to avoid attracting unwanted attention. The bar management used to charge Rs 2,500 per entry. The police seized Rs 2.41 lakh in cash from the bar during the raid.
