The BBMP is preparing to hold a massive door-to-door survey of all city households to find out more about residents’ health regardless of Covid.
The civic authority has formed 108 teams of doctors, paramedics and field workers to conduct the survey over the next few weeks, Revenue Minister R Ashoka said.
Ashoka held a meeting with BBMP officials amidst rising daily Covid cases and major outbreaks in neighbouring states.
The minister directed officials to check the extent of the infection’s spread and maintain a ready database of citizens’ health. Ashoka said the teams will begin work on August 16 and will start with two wards in each Assembly segment in the city.
“The teams will visit every household and provide Covid awareness literature,” the minister said. “They will also document health details of the family on a checklist fed into the mobiles of the officials. The data will be updated on the server at the BBMP’s Covid Control War Room.”
Regardless of a Covid infection in the family, all health parameters of citizens will be recorded, which will be of major use in the coming days, the minister added.
Ashoka pointed out that Bommanahalli, Yelahanka and Mahadevapura zones contain the highest concentration of Covid cases within the BBMP limits.
“When a patient tests positive, our doctors or medical team will visit the family within six hours and give them a medical kit, besides recording their health parameters,” he said.
The medical kits will contain the names of two doctors who can be contacted at any time in case there are adverse reactions to the prescribed medicines, he said.
