The volunteers of Bangalore Political Action Committee (BPAC) along with the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) conducted garbage black spots removal drive at Thanisandra on Wednesday.
The drive is a part of their five-part series programme, where they try to create awareness among the people about maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.
The members cleared the garbage piled up near Hegde Nagar traffic police training centre.
‘Due to meat shops in and around the area, the place was filled with animal waste and also eateries in the area had dumped wet waste,’ a press statement said.
With the growing problem of solid waste management, it is important to spread awareness about waste segregation at the source, said a BPAC representative.
The BBMP health officials also took part in the programme.
Two black spots in Byatarayanapura and Pulakeshinagar were removed during the drive.
