So fans are definitely looking forward to a cracker of match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The tickets may have been sold out a few days ago, but there’s still a scramble.
Rohith Reddy, an entrepreneur in renewable energy space, says: “The last two matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium have seen all teams score 300 plus runs. For cricket fans who have paid more than the sale price of tickets, that is a good return. I’m trying hard to get tickets, but not surprisingly, no one is willing to spare one.”
For once, the main talking point about an India match is not Sachin Tendulkar.
Step in Kevin O’Brien, the 26-year-old lad with his electric pink hair that has electrified this World Cup with the fastest ever World Cup century. Maya M, an IT professional from Cognizant Systems, has been smitten by the latest star in the World Cup.
“I’m definitely rooting for India, but I’d like to see O’Brien do well too,” she said.
For Indian fans, the match could be nerve-wracking as the Indian bowling has not been firing on all cylinders.
“Our spinners will be key to this match. Maybe, R Ashwin will have a job to do,” says Karthik R, a former state under-21 player.
“But it would be interesting to see how they bowl to Brien,” he adds. Ultimately, many Indian fans seem pleased with the allotment of matches to Bangalore.
Reddy says: “Initially, when the schedule came out, everyone thought that Bangalore got a rough deal, as there were no matches between the tier-one teams.
“Then the India-England game was shifted to Bangalore, and we also had the Ireland-England match which was a cracker. Hopefully, this one too will be a great game,” he adds.
