Fee payment: Govt issues notice to city school over student's suicide attempt

The Department of Public Instruction has issued a notice to a private school in Bengaluru after a student attempted suicide, alleging the school management humiliated him over the payment of fees.

On Wednesday, a Class 10 student of the private school located in HSR Layout attempted suicide after he was humiliated by the principal in front of his classmates for not clearing the fee dues.

State primary and secondary education minister S Suresh Kumar visited the student on Thursday and promised action against the school.

“We have already issued a notice to the school, seeking an explanation. Action will be initiated after receiving a reply from the school,” a press communication issued by the minister read.
