An accidental fire, said to be triggered by an electrical short circuit, gutted a garment store on Commercial Street on Thursday morning.
The fire broke out at the Manyavar Mohey store, resulting in readymade garments and other valuables being gutted in the blaze. There were no causalities reported in the incident.
Fire and emergency officials doused the flames before it could spread to the adjacent commercial establishments.

The staff of Manyavar Mohey were sent outside the store soon after they noticed the smoke.
The operation to douse the fire took about an hour. Panic prevailed on the busy street for a while.
The total loss of the merchandise is yet to be estimated. Commercial Street police have taken up a case and are investigating.
