Bengaluru: An investigation into an assault case by the DJ Halli police led them to a medical store in Electronics City, where the suspects had purchased and consumed tablets with intoxicating effects.
The police arrested Syed Salad, Usman Khan, Salman, Praveen and Santhosh for assaulting the complainant Arun Kumar K and his father. The suspects, aged between 18 and 20, have no prior criminal history.
The FIR stated that, on September 30, the suspects attempted to take Kumar’s motorcycle, which was parked outside his house, for a joyride. When Kumar confronted them, they assaulted him.
The police said the suspects used a small weapon in the attack, although no injuries were sustained.
During the investigation, the police found photographs on one of the suspect’s mobile phones showing the group consuming the drugs.
Upon questioning, it was revealed that the tablets, being used as drug substitutes, were supplied by a medical store in Electronics City.
“We discovered that the tablets had intoxicating effects when abused,” a senior police officer told DH. “The matter has been reported to the Drugs Control Department, and the medical store has been seized. Further investigation is ongoing.”
