The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has planned flyovers at three busy traffic intersections to ease congestion.
A flyover each will come up along Hosur Road (from Adugodi junction to Sarjapur Road junction) and Kammanahalli Main Road (at Nehru Road junction), while the stretch from Suranjan Das Road to Old Madras Road will get an additional arm (flyover).
First proposed in 2017, the project is seeing a revival of sorts with the BBMP inviting bids from private consultancies for the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for each flyover.
The state government has approved the action plan for the project, a BBMP official said, adding that a sum of Rs 200 crore has been tentatively sanctioned.
The official told DH: "The flyovers were planned after a tentative analysis and visual inspection by BBMP officials showed the need to ease traffic congestion at the three intersections."
According to the tender document, which has been accessed by DH, the external consultancy will study the feasibility of constructing the flyover at each intersection, prepare alternative concepts and DPR along with the cost estimate.
The official said: “The project has been revived following a demand from commuters who face traffic snarls on a daily basis. The flyovers will ease traffic congestion to a great extent.”
