Bengaluru: Former Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for questioning in a Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case.
Well-placed sources confirmed that the senior BJP leader arrived at the CID office on Monday morning.
Last week, the Karnataka High Court granted conditional relief to the former chief minister and directed the probe team to take no coercive measure till he appears for inquiry on June 17.
A Bengaluru court had earlier issued a warrant for the BJP leader’s arrest.
A 54-year-old woman in March this year had accused Yediyurappa of sexually abusing her 17-year-old daughter at his house in northern Bengaluru's Dollars Colony.
Sadashivanagar police opened a case under Section 8 (punishment for sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and IPC Section 354A (sexual harassment). Yediyurappa has denied the accusation, while the Karnataka government handed the case to the CID.
