A 27-year-old doctor died on the spot as he crashed his high-end bike on the road median on Sunday morning while going on a jolly ride.
Three others, including a dental surgeon, a software engineer and a cleaner also died in separate road accidents on Sunday.
The doctor, Mohammed Nishaad, was clipping at 120 KMPH on his new Triumph bike when he crashed into the median at airport flyover near Kodigehalli. The bike skidded on for nearly 200 metres.
A native of Kerala, Nishaad was residing in Adugodi with his elder brother and was practicing at a private hospital in Hoskote. Friends said Nishaad bought the high-end bike paying Rs 13 lakh.
Nearly 20 of his friends decided to go on a trip to Nandi hills on Sunday. Nishaad left home at 5.30 am and his friends were ahead of him. With his friend Mohammed Naveed at the pillion, Nishaad climbed the flyover after Hebbal at a high speed.
As the bike crashed into the median, both the riders were hurled in the air before crashing to the ground. Nishaad died of severe injuries, while Naveed was rushed to a private hospital. Traffic was disrupted at the flyover for some time.
The dental surgeon was similarly killed when he crashed his Honda Activa on the median. Dr Lohith (28) was residing in Puttenahalli and was getting home from Bannerghatta Road. He lost control and rammed the median at mini forest area in JP Nagar 3rd Phase around 3.30 am.
Dr Lohith had severe injuries to his head and passersby rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
A 24-year-old software professional was killed and his friend riding pillion sustained injuries when a speeding car knocked their vehicle down.
The deceased Harish resided in Marathahalli and worked in a software company. Around 12.50 am, as Harish rode home with his friend Pragdish at the pillion, an over-speeding car touched the bike’s rear near AIC Square Road near Mahadevapura.
The duo was thrown to the ground and was severely injured. They were rushed to KIMS hospital where Harish was declared brought dead and Pragdish shifted to NIMHANS. KR Puram traffic police arrested the car driver and seized the vehicle.
A speeding car similarly mowed down a 38-year-old labourer as he tried to get help near Electronic City where his tempo broke down.
Sadanand and his driver were heading towards the city when the tempo broke down. He tried to get help by waving at the speeding vehicles when the car knocked him down. He was taken to hospital, where he died. Police seized the car and arrested the driver.
