Shankaraa Foundation, a charitable trust, is presenting Jeevanotsava on May 1, 5.30 pm onwards at the Shankaraa Foundation, Kanakapura Road. The evening will be filled with music, dance and theatrical events.
Dedicated to promote, preserve and perpetuate the proud heritage of the State, the Foundation is committed to the revival and practice of all creative forms of expression. For the past 13 years, the trust has been working with less privileged children from the surrounding rural areas and orphanages through specially designed workshops that sensitise them to their cultural roots and refine their aesthetic awareness.
This year, in association with DRIK Foundation and AVAS, the evening will see 60 gifted children from slums across Karnataka, showcase their talent in dance, music and theatre. The children were a part of the Foundation’s residential summer workshop, where they were trained by talented visual, performing, folk and theatre artistes. The evening is a culmination of this workshop.
It will start off with the team showcasing the tribal and folk forms of Karnataka.
This will then be followed by ‘The Giving Tree’, a dance feature, choreographed
by Rasshme Hegde Gopi, managing trustee, Shankaraa Foundation, which will be performed by the students.
The evening will also include performances by odissi dancer Meera Das with her troupe from Cuttack, Orissa and Hindustani musician Sangeeta Katti.
