Residents of Anjanapura Further Extension 9, 10 and 11th blocks of Gottigere staged a protest in front of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) head office here on Tuesday
The residents were demanding water supply through PVC pipes on a temporary basis, till permanent pipelines are laid.
The residents said that the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) had written to the BWSSB chairman on February 12, 2014, requesting that the residents of Anjanapura further extension should be provided with water supply and proper drainage system.
The letter also mentioned that BDA had given land to BWSSB for the same and the BWSSB should prepare a detailed project report, while the former will provide funds. This, however, will need some reasonable time, the letter stated.
Reacting to the demand, BWSSB chairman M S Ravishankar said they had received the letter from the BDA and they that will reply in writing.
He said: “Residents cannot be provided water through PVC pipes with the help of bulk meters on a temporary basis. If we opt for this measure for this layout, then we will have to resort to the same measure for other private layouts too.
We also turned down the request from the BBMP a few days back for the same reason. Water will be provided to all the residents of Bangalore in a phased manner through permanent pipelines. However, on a temporary basis, we are ready to provide water through tankers, he added.
