Govt announces affiliation of colleges to BU, two new universities

The State government has announced affiliation of colleges to Bengaluru Central University (BCU) and Bengaluru North University (BNU), which were carved out of Bangalore University.

The affiliation is based on statistics provided by the Bangalore University (BU) and, the Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagaram, Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts.

The government has directed BU to correct discrepancies, if any, in respect of affiliations to all the three universities. The BU has been authorised to redress objections of colleges as regards their affiliations.

Colleges affiliated to BU after September 1, 2017 will automatically fall under one of the three universities based on their Assembly constituencies. The government has authorised the three varsities to take action for affiliation of such colleges.

Colleges affiliated to BU

All colleges under Vijayanagar, Padmanabhanagar, Bommanahalli, Anekal, Bengaluru South, Yeshwanthpur, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Dasarahalli, Mahalakshmi Layout and Govindarajnagar Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru Urban district; colleges under Nelamangala Assembly constituency in Bengaluru Rural district; colleges under Magadi, Ramanagaram, Kanakapura and Channapatna Assembly constituencies in Ramanagaram district.

Colleges affiliated to BCU

All colleges under Shanthinagar, Byatarayanapura, Yelahanka, Malleswaram, Hebbal, Shivajinagar, Gandhinagar, Chamarajpet, Chickpet, Basavanagudi, BTM Layout, Jayanagar and Rajajinagar Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru Urban district.

Colleges affiliated to BNU

All colleges under Srinivaspur, Mulbagal, KGF, Bangarpet, Kolar and Malur Assembly constituencies and Kolar PG Centre; K R Puram, Pulikeshinagar, Sarvagnanagar, C V Raman Nagar and Mahadevapura Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru Urban district; Gauribidanur, Bagepalli, Chikkaballapur, Sidlaghatta and Chintamani Assembly constituencies in Chikkaballapur district; Devanahalli, Doddaballapur and Hoskote Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru Rural district.
