Though, the number of participants dwindled compared to the past nine days, it was made up by the enthusiasm of a few who shouted “Vande Mataram.”
Volunteers of the India Against Corruption (IAC), the NGO, which is in-charge of agitation at the Freedom Park, said participation registration at the end of the day was nearly 19,000. A number far less when compared to the past week, wherein each day saw a participation of nearly 30,000 people.
Banners at the Freedom Park showed the individual identities of various groups who had gathered to register their protest seeking the passage of the Bill.
From international schools, colleges to the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) all displayed their banners registering their presence at the Park.
Hundreds of lawyers participated in a signature campaign and expressed their solidarity with Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement.
From truckers’ association to lesser-known colleges used the Park railing for advertising their institutions.
As many as 500 employees from Toyota Kirloskar who arrived at the Park extended their support the movement.
Until Sunday, the amount of donation collected totalled Rs nine lakh, said IAC volunteers.
