The members of Ideal Homes Housing Cooperative Association on Tuesday demanded the BBMP to conduct a proper survey of Ideal Homes Housing Society Layout before taking up a demolition drive.
The layout is in Rajarajeshwari Nagar where the BBMP has launched a demolition drive to clear encroachment on stormwater drains.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, association president C M Subbaiah said that the layout was formed 45 years ago after obtaining approval from the Bangalore Development Authority and the City Improvement Trust Board. “People have been staying here for more than 40 years. The Revenue department has conducted three surveys previously, all of which were incomplete,” he said. The association members stressed that they do not mind demolition if it was carried out as per proper survey records.
“Till date we have never faced any flooding despite heavy rains. We want a proper survey to be conducted before taking up any demolition in the area,” Subbaiah added.
The association said that the land on which SS Hospital has been constructed was allotted by the BDA to former minister Shamanur Shivashankarappa. Former corporator N R Ramesh had alleged that the hospital had been built by encroaching upon SWD.
