Vivacious yet demure, Prachi Desai has made her mark in Bollywood with films such as ‘Rock On’ and ‘Once upon a time in Mumbaai’.
She was in the City recently for a corporate event and she had only good things to say about Bangalore.
“I have heard wonderful things about the City. It has such a great mix of professionals and students. It is a very popular City and I have come here several times but never had the time or the opportunity to roam around. I feel that people here are very encouraging and full of life. I regret the fact that I have never taken time out to see Bangalore.
I will probably be able to do it the next time,” she says.
Professionally, the chirpy actress is content with her on-screen image of ‘the girl next door’, but is also ready to experiment.
“The image that I have been tagged with has not been created by me. It has stuck to me due to the kind of roles I have done. I feel that everyone has a USP and if this is working for me, there is no harm in continuing with it. If people like me and want to see me in this avatar, I have no qualms about it. I am happy that so many people like me and watch my movies,” she adds.
Her transition from the small screen to the big screen has done wonders for her.
“I am glad that I am doing movies, it is a welcome change in my life and I would want all my fans to watch my movies. I am open to experimenting and would want to do different kinds of roles,” she quips.
When asked about trying her hand in item numbers, she candidly replies that it has given immense popularity to many actors.
“Actors are doing well after performing in item songs for others’ movies and in their own movies. However, for me, the film is utmost and then comes the set, script
and the choreographer,” she adds.
The pretty actress reveals that she loves her character, Gauri, in her latest film I, Me Aur Main and had a lot of fun while shooting for the film.
“I am also pretty excited about my two other projects, Policegiri and Vikram Bhatt’s ‘1920 London’. Being a part of a horror movie was a different experience. As an actor, I feel that we have very limited options and it is because of that we portray the same kind of roles and replicate the same kind of image time and again. I am all for taking risks and always on the lookout for a good role,” she notes.
It might be difficult for celebrities to spare time to pursue their hobby, but Prachi makes sure that she makes time to follow her passion. “ I like to make small artefacts with glass and mirrors. I enjoy doing craft work. I also love dancing and I get to do a lot of that in the movies,” she concludes.
