The city police commissioner suspended a police inspector and his subordinate — a sub-inspector — for not informing their superiors about a gang that vandalised vehicles, and for not grabbing the prime accused in a kidnap case.
“The miscreants had smashed the windshields of a few cars parked on the roadside near the Satellite Bus Station on Mysuru Road on Tuesday night. The inspector didn’t inform the senior officers about the incident. They learnt about it from the media,” an official said.
“Besides, he didn’t make any effort to trace the prime accused in the kidnap of businessman Jaiprakash Bansal, reported on April 14. He also wasn’t updating his seniors on the progress in the probes. He failed to follow instructions,” the official revealed as reasons for the suspension.
Sources said the officers could not solve the Bansal kidnap that happened in Nandini Layout. The accused is still on the run.
