Suddenly, they have become the cynosure of all eyes. Avid game-lovers from Ireland don’t mince words in fancying their team’s chances against India in the big clash on Sunday.

Says a fan from Bantry, a town in County Cork in Ireland. “It’s just amazing to palpate the excitement of the match against India. We are proud of our boys who have emerged as the latest sporting icons of our country. We believe they have in them the ability to beat any side in the world.”

He is part of the Irish fans’ group which has been vociferously cheering their team. Many of them are on their first-ever visit to India. But they say they are enjoying the place like never before. While the fans look forward to root for their team, they feel inspired by the vocal Indian supporters.

“Watching a cricket match in a packed stadium is something we’re not too familiar with. But, it’s certainly going to be a great experience for us,” says another fan from Dublin.

Martin Willetts, who watched the historic India-England tie says, “The atmosphere was great. We have a very positive impression of that game. People are very hospitable. We hope the cordiality and warmth continue into Sunday’s match.”
