The suspect was identified as S Bella Vasanthi, the JDS Bangalore City Unit Organising Secretary and a resident of Yelahanka. CID Forest sleuths approached her in the guise of customers and met her at Woodlands Hotel in SR Nagar. On finding that she had the pelt with her they arrested her.
She told them that she purchased the leopard skin from a person named Kumar, who is also a JD(S) leader. A case has been booked under Wild Life Act.
Boy drowned
A one-year-old boy drowned in Nayandalli tank in Byatarayanapura on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Rahul. According to the police, Rahul’s parent are construction workers and hail from Raichur. They stay in a makeshift shed near Nayandalli bus stand, a few yards away from the tank. Rahul went outside playing near the tank. He fell into the tank and drowned. The parents started searching for him hours later. They found out the body towards night, added the police.
Five held for murder
Three persons were arrested on Monday in Anekal for allegedly stabbing their friend to death in a drunken stupor after a spat broke out between them over a petty issue.
Police said Mohan Babu alias Bangari (30) of Anekal, was reportedly stabbed to death by his friends Dore alias Ganga, Chandru, and Putti, all residents of Anekal and in their early 30s. The arrested have been remanded to judicial custody.
Chikkajala police arrested two persons in connection with a murder of a woman. The suspects were identified as Satish (25) and Raja (20), both from Vidyanagar Cross. Police said the duo allegedly received sexual favours from Ramakka and refused to pay.
When she threatened to expose them, they bludgeoned her to death.
