The incident happened on June 25 in Mallathalli in Jananabharathi area. Manjula and her friend Srinivas were taking out household articles from a vehicle belonging to Srinivas when a tempo bumped into the four-wheeler leading to an altercation. When Manjula tried to intervene, one of the occupants of the tempo allegedly stabbed her. The next day in the hospital, Manjula had told the police that she suffered the injury during the accident and she did not  blame anyone for the incident. The doctors said that she was out of danger, the police said.

However, Manjula developed some complications in her lungs and on Friday she was shifted to Victoria Hospital where she died. On July 3, Srinivas filed a complaint that Manjula was stabbed by one of the occupants of the tempo.

"Now, we have to find out the exact cause of death. Nobody has come forward to claim her body till now and we have preserved it for two days. She had left her husband long back and was in constant touch with Srinivas for quite a long time,” the police said.
