Bengaluru: Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje’s name has once again started doing rounds for the state BJP unit president’s post after Union Home Minister Amit Shah reportedly called her to wish on her birthday on Monday. However, she denied being in contention for the post.
“I am not in the race for any (post) as I am very much happy with my position at the Centre. My party leaders have recognised me and given me responsibilities,” Shobha told reporters.
DKS’ reaction
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is also the Karnataka Congress president, told reporters that he would welcome if Shobha gets the post. “It is their internal matter. I welcome if the party decides to appoint Shobhakka as the state BJP president. She’s a capable leader who played a pivotal role in building Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) and now BJP,” he said.
