KSDL factory will not be shifted, says CM

Speaking to reporters after his visit to Karnataka Soaps and Detergents and Mysore Lamps factory here, he said: ‘Efforts will be made to make KSDL profitable and it will stay put at its present location.” Yeddyurappa who also visited defunct Mysore Lamps factory stated that a decision would soon be taken on the utilisation of factory land.

Namma Metro

Earlier the Chief Minister who reviewed the progress made at construction sites of the Namma Metro project on Reach-1 said that the train would be commissioned in December this year as scheduled.

“About 75 percent of the work has been completed on the 7 km Reach-1 stretch from Byappanahalli to Anil Kumble Circle and work on all six stations along this route is progressing briskly.

The State government has allocated Rs 160 crore for the Metro construction, Rs 250 crore for the six stations on Reach-1 and Rs 175 crore for the Byappanahalli terminal” the Chief Minister added.

Yeddyurappa said the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will take up a beautification and restoration drive of the M G Road promenade. “A green pathway will come up below the viaduct on M G Road and elsewhere on the Metro route. It will be designed to accommodate art exhibitions, theatre activities, handicrafts exhibition, open air theatre and cultural events”, he said.

He also visited the Veterinary College at Hebbal. “We will shortly consult the vice-chancellor and agri-experts on utilisation of 1,000 acres of college land at Hessaraghatta” he said.
